The Tournament of Chauvency is an engaging account by the poet Jacques Bretel of the chivalric festival held in Lorraine in 1285. Once the day is over and tournament at an end, the evenings belong to the ladies. In musical and danced conversations, the ladies discuss love and desire among themselves or with their male companions. One game follows another, ranging from the courtliest to the overtly erotic, even licentious.
