Thomas Gunther (piano)

Born in 1905 Kahn studied piano and composition and became a close friend of Bartok, Roussel and Webern. He enjoyed a successful career as pianist and composer until the outbreak of war in 1939 when he was interred by the Nazis. He spent over 14 months in various concentration camps but was eventually allowed to emigrate to America in 1941. He lived and worked in New York and died there, of a brain haemorrhage in 1956.
