Jean-François Heisser (piano) In the history of piano music, there are few examples of a cycle as vast as that of Iberia, an absolute masterpiece of Franco-Spanish music, written by the composer Isaac Albéniz at the start of the 20th century in Paris. Today the score stands out as the expression of a European composer who returned to a secret garden, that of Spain, his dream. Iberia is here performed by Jean-François Heisser, a specialist in this repertoire. This CD-book incorporates photography to open the experience of Spanish music to a more universal perspective. Isabel Muñoz examines the unique features of her native land from flamenco and tango, to bullfighting and architecture. Photography by Isabel Muñoz CD & Book “Jean-François Heisser has been very well recorded, makes the piano sing and opens with enchanting accounts of "Evocacion" and "El puerto". The bells ring out joyously in "El Corpus in Sevilla".” Gramophone Magazine, October 2010 | | | Usually despatched in 3 - 4 working days. |

| | | The Great Pianists Volume 8 - Arthur RubinsteinMasters of the Piano Roll series
These recordings were made in 1992 from the original piano rolls and were recorded on a brand
new Yamaha Concert Grand under Denis Condon’s supervision “Rubinstein's charismatic personality shines through this programme, ranging from a bristling Prokofiev 'Suggestion diabolique' and an ecstatic Debussy L'isle joyeuse, to authoritative Brahms, Chopin and Spanish works.” BBC Music Magazine, November 2008 ***** | | | Usually despatched in 8 - 10 working days. |

Cannes Classical Award Winner 2003 “The Concerto No 5, Helsinki, was commissioned for the Helsinki Festival but contains no musical reference to that city. As Brouwer explains: 'I compose in Space or in Lightness and Heaviness,' referring to the titles of the first two movements, but whether he ever does so in 'Luminosity', the title of the third, we aren't told. It's a substantial work that's none the worse for its lack of memorable tunes – except to those who regard them as essential. Brouwer's fingerprints abound, especially in the first movement's gestures, made familiar in other (solo) pieces. He has an intimate knowledge of the guitar, and uses the orchestra skilfully and imaginatively. Renaissance composers didn't hesitate to use popular and folk tunes, so why shouldn't today's do likewise? Brouwer describes The Beatles' tunes as 'folk songs of today' and the seven in this recording are set in a variety of pastiche forms, à la Wagner, Hindemith, Stravinsky et al, a pleasing counterbalance to the serious business of the Concerto. Timo Korhonen is a superb guitarist who takes everything in his clean-fingered stride. The Tampere orchestra shares his zest, and the recording is first-class.” Gramophone Classical Music Guide, 2010 | | | (also available to download from $10.50) | Usually despatched in 2 - 3 working days. | | | Katona Twins - Albéniz
All pieces arranged by Peter and Zoltán Katona This is one of the few time's I've heard the famous Tango in D (part of España) played as if it really were a tango-very refreshing.
