Anton Eberl (1765-1807) was born in Vienna and studied piano and composition from several teachers, including Mozart. He was frequently compared to his illustrious teacher and many of his compositions were ‘passed off’ as being by Mozart. The Playel-Trio St. Petersburg play on period instruments, which lend the music a very original feel and sound.
