Salvatore Sciarrino was born in 1947 in Palermo and counts today among the most influential contemporary composers, especially known for his dramatic stage compositions. For the past three years he has been the artistic director of the Teatro Communale in Bologna and teaches at the conservatoires in Milan, Perugia and Florence as well as giving master classes. He lives in Città di Castello, a small town in Umbria.
