In the field of chamber music, Georg Philipp Telemann stands out as a Baroque composer who broke with the exclusive demands of the court in order to address a wider music-loving public. Dating between 1727 and 1752, the duettos presented here by the sensitive and virtuoso Ensemble Caprice show by their simple melodic appeal or their expressive scale Telemann's great stylistic range as he adapted his idiom to the times, indeed helped shape the music of a new era. Alexander Weimann performs Fantasias for the clavichord composed by Matthias Maute especially for this recording, which both serve as a transition between the duets and create a link to other sonatas for two instruments across the centuries. They are a homage to Georg Philipp Telemann.
