Maria Skiba (soprano), Heidi Maria Taubert (soprano), Dorothea Wagner (soprano), David Erler (alto), Tobias Hunger (tenor), Stephan Gahler (tenor), Ingolf Seidel (baritone), Clemens Heidrich (bass) & Matthias Lutze (bass) Cappella Sagittariana Dresden, Norbert Schuster Schütz studied the art of polychoral music in Venice. After returning to Germany, he became the chapelmaster at the court of the Saxon elector and had a very impressive sacred building at his disposal, the castle chapel. The works on this CD, such as the Psalms of David, demonstrate an Italian influence. These wonderful compositions are now the standard repertoire of many ensembles throughout the world. “That [Schuster] is an instrumentalist rather than a singer is clear in the way he achieves such total integration of voices and instruments in these performances, and in is deep appreciation of the many-layered textures in Schütz's writing....Schütz is served uncommonly well by these particular performers on this excellent disc.” International Record Review, May 2011 | | | Usually despatched in 2 - 3 working days. |
