In these compositions Sotelo brings together the teachings of Luigi Nono and the mysteries of Flamenco. That ability to bring together unrelated elements into one whole has been a characteristic of Sotelo’s compositional activity for some time and here it comes through the layering of a flamenco cantaor between quite separate instrumental lines, yet without becoming a collage.
