Recorded live at l’Opéra de Montpellier

Koechlin was born two years after Kipling in 1867 and was originally a scientist before devoting himself to music and composed great symphonic works after 1925. These include the symphonic poems based on the Jungle Book, which when the translations were first published immediately filled the composer with enthusiasm. During Koechlin’s lifetime this cycle of works were performed for the first time in Brussels in 1946. Since then performances of the whole cycle remain a rarity.
