Re-issue of the classic Carl Davis album from the 80’s
The album originally entitled ‘Liverpool Pops at Home’ grew out of the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra’s desire to put on a concert called Sounds of the City, a concert to show the richness of the musical legacy from the great musicians and composers of Liverpool. The evening hit all the right buttons and a recording followed.
The album personifies Liverpool from the Beatles, through the Scaffold, the marvellous Willy Russell for Blood Brothers and Educating Rita to the anthemic You’ll Never Walk Alone.
Those Liverpool Days features Barbara Dickson, Lucy Parham and a young treble called Tommy Williams who gives a remarkable and unique version of John Lennon’s Imagine
Also featured is the much sort after Champions Suite, one of the most frequently requested of Carl Davis’ works, from the acclaimed film Champions which charted top jockey Bob Champion’s fight with cancer.
