Friedhelm Flamme (performed on the Scherer Organ, St. Stephanskirche, Tangermuende (Germany), 1624) On volume 9 in cpo’s on-going series featuring the organ music of the Northern German Baroque, Friedhelm Flamme interprets works by one of the most esteemed Hamburg musicians of his time: Hieronymus Praetorius. The Magnificat cycles recorded here in full are based on the eight church modes of the particular Magnificat tones then in use in Hamburg. In contrast to Praetorius’ practice in his vocal Magnificat compositions, his organ works display a freer part writing style. | | | (also available to download from $21.00) | In stock - usually despatched within 1 working day. |
