This recording has been released in honour of Sofia Gubaidulina’s 80th birthday. In recent years, she has increasingly composed for the double bass and has produced new double bass versions of earlier pieces. This collection allows listeners to hear these works for the first time in their entirety and to trace the evolution of Gubaidulina’s music over five decades.
