George Enescu (1881–1955) is one of the great composers, although the world has yet to realise the extent of his achievement. Enescu’s small published œuvre of 33 opus numbers belies the amount of music he produced: he composed prolifically but, as he was both a perfectionist and a busy performer, much of his music is still unknown. Tatiana Samouil (violin), Gérard Caussé (viola), Justus Grimm (cello), Vincent Lucas (flute), Frédéric Mellardi (trumpet) & Claudia Bara (piano) All the works included in this collection were composed around 1900, during one of Enescu’s most productive periods. The artists performing them are Slavonic and French, contributing to making Enescu’s music universal.
