Crockett’s works are notable for their clarity and immediate impact on the listener. There is a sense of transparent and flowing tonally centred harmonic motion and constant energy. This CD includes Night Scenes for piano trio, “to airy thinness beat” for viola and six instruments and Wet Ink for violin and piano. The Firebird Ensemble is very much at home with this intricate and entertaining music.
