After the First World War, fewer German Lied were composed. Over the last ten years, baritone Christian Immler has searched out some early 20th century German artsong gems. Immler writes: “The composers featured here all played in the premier creative league of their time. No longer should they be remembered for the tragedies they suffered, but for all that they actually left to posterity…”
“With his personable high baritone - mellow yet capable of an incisive edge - and keen intelligence, Immler convinces equally in the mystery and inwardness of the Zemlinsky songs.”
