Jan Kobow (tenor), Klaus Mertens (bass) Hamburger Ratsmusik, Jan Eckert Schieferdecker was a successor of Buxtehude in the Church of St. Mary in Lübeck. He continued the vision of “Opera in the Church” but many of his works were lost. The cantatas featured here show how impressively he developed Buxtehude’s ideas. “The cantatas are sung by Klaus Mertens, a notable Bachian, and tenor Jan Kobow, with a welcome lack of histrionic intervention and fine tone. Simone Eckert, the viola da gamba player, directs the Hamburger Ratsmusik with incision and a sure feeling for the music's line” MusicWeb International, December 2012 | | | (also available to download from $10.50) | In stock - usually despatched within 1 working day. |

Toutes Suites, Marianne R Pfau Toutes Suites perform rarely played works, two of which are first recordings. This combination of instruments is unusual; three oboes, bassoon, violin and harpsichord. “I cannot imagine any enthusiasts for baroque music being other than enchanted.” IRR on GEN88525 | |
