The Colours of Christmas is a collection of the greatest Christmas carols by the composer/conductor whose music has, for many, been so associated with Christmas. Featuring the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and The Bach Choir, with guest artists Over the Bridge and conducted by Rutter himself. The Colours of Christmas (track 2 from the album) is a newly composed carol by Rutter for this new album, and is testament to the very best of Rutter’s music. Newly orchestrated for this album are the carols Ding Dong Merrily On High and Hark! The Herald Angels Sing. All recordings on this album are brand new. “If you believe that Christmas music should have a warm, comfortable feel, then this CD will fit the bill perfectly...Rutter is equally skilled as an arranger and orchestrator, and the ingenious use of calypso rhythms in 'Ding dong! Merrily on high' is a delight...The Bach Choir and Royal Philharmonic Orchestra give crisp, enthusiastic performances. The choir have superb diction, blend and ensemble.” Gramophone Magazine, January 2012 “There’s something for everyone here” Sunday Times, 18th December 2011 “Nobody knows more about Christmas carols than John Rutter, and this collection oozes class. The opening "Ding Dong! Merrily on High" sets the scene: full of fluttering woodwind and horns dancing around tinkling percussion.” The Independent, 23rd December 2011 **** “Christmas wouldn’t be Christmas without a new piece from John Rutter, master of singable and ear-catching carols. This year’s is The Colours of Christmas, artlessly written and beautifully sung by the Bach Choir.” The Telegraph, 9th December 2011 “it’s hard not to enjoy the disc’s panache and the smiling skill of Rutter, the Bach Choir and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra as they paint the season red, white and green.” The Times, 23rd December 2011 **** | | | In stock - usually despatched within 1 working day. |

| | | Rutter - A Christmas Festival
No living composer has come to be more closely associated with Christmas than John Rutter: for more than thirty years, his carols and other seasonal choral music have been an indispensable feature of Christmas celebrations worldwide. Inspired by the success of his much-loved annual Christmas concerts at the Royal Albert Hall, this major new recording, for release in November 2008, features première recordings of over a dozen brand new compositions and arrangements for Christmas by John Rutter, together with his own personal selection of seasonal choral and orchestral favourites by other composers. Recorded in the splendid setting of London’s Cadogan Hall, this is the first all-new Christmas release from Rutter’s celebrated Cambridge Singers for 20 years, and the first ever to feature the glorious sound of full symphony orchestra and organ. “The sparkling fanfare introducing 'O come, all ye faithful' gives a typical flavour, Rutter gleefully using the full resources of the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra to light the soundstage up with seasonal glitter.” BBC Music Magazine, December 2008 **** | | | In stock - usually despatched within 1 working day. |

| | | What Sweeter Music: Carols and Songs for Christmas
Tenebrae return to disc on Signum with a sumptuous collection of songs and carols for Christmas time. Anyone who has heard this finely tuned, professional choir in action before will be understandably excited to hear them bringing these festive works to life. “Superbly sung and plenty of fun” Gramophone Magazine Best Christmas Discs Roundup 2009 “Rutter's title-track perhaps shows off the choir's tonal blend to best effect, while Karl Jenkins' arrangement of "Gaudete" brings a brief burst of ebullience amid the piety. Two tracks which set the album apart: the superbly-measured arrangement of the Appalachian folk tune "I Wonder As I Wander", and Rathbone's splendid arrangement of "Silent Night".” The Independent, 11th December 2009 *** “A jazzy Jingle Bells launches this varied and seductively sung programme” Geoffrey Norris, The Telegraph Best Christmas Discs 2009 | | | Usually despatched in 3 - 4 working days. |
