Ingolf Wunder returns with a unique follow-up, 300, three centuries of piano styles – from Scarlatti to Morricone. Ingolf Wunder adores fun, melodic pieces that demand exceptional flair and virtuosity – 300 will attract all piano fans. He links pieces by Liszt, Rachmaninov, and Scriabin (among others) to Horowitz’s own landmark homage, Danse excentrique and extends the lineage to late 20th-century pieces such as his own arrangement of hits like John Williams’s "Star Wars (theme)" – and Morricone’s "Playing Love" from the film, The Legend of 1900. The perfect follow-up to Chopin by presenting another facet of this exceptional pianist, who was the audience favourite at the 2010 Chopin Competition – his Deutsche Grammophon debut Chopin album was acclaimed worldwide: ". . . an extremely elegant and polished affair" (Los Angeles Times) |

| | | Horowitz in Moscow
“In 1986 Horowitz returned to his native Russia for the first time in more than half a century. He's seen here performing, being interviewed and chatting with old family members. Touching and with some extraordinary playing.” BBC Music Magazine, July 2006 **** “The return to his homeland in 1986 by the world's most famous living instrumentalist after an absence of 61 years caught the public imagination. …the 83-year old Horowitz's arrival in Moscow prompted the kind of reception reserved usually for pop stars. Brian Large's Emmy Award-winning film captures all this well... Few have conjured from a piano such a palette of tonal colours with such convincing imagery and musical imagination as Horowitz does in this recital. The audience listens with rapt concentration. A man sits motionless with tears streaming down his face in Träumerei. Unforgettable.” Gramophone Magazine, February 2006 | | | In stock - usually despatched within 1 working day. |

Not to missed by any piano lover! “[Fowke's] playing is that of a true virtuoso, sumptuously coloured and inflected, while Marc-Andre Hamelin displays all of his superhuman command in his own savagely intricate Prelude and Fugue Etude. | | | Razor Blades, Little Pills and Big Pianos
James Rhodes' story is an unusual one: he has had no formal academic musical education or dedicated mentoring. The title of this, his debut album, hints at the suffering that dogged Rhodes's childhood and early adult life. Classical music became his solace and key to his survival. It was Bach, Beethoven and Chopin; not Faith, Hope and Charity, that offered him comfort. Razor Blades, Little Pills and Big Pianos explores the emotive landscape that we call 'life'.The recording, performed at the magical Potton Hall, tucked away in a seductive Brittenesque patch of Suffolk, is somewhat of a biographical expression of Rhodes's complex and unorthodox journey. And yes, he can play. “…Rhodes is a fine musician. His performance of Bach's fifth French Suite is a delight, with the pace measured, a warm and bell-like tone throughout, and the ornamentation nicely controlled.” BBC Music Magazine, May 2009 *** “The dance pulse of Bach, declamatory drama of Beethoven and cantabile texture of Chopin are conveyed with conviction and dazzling technique.” Classic FM Magazine “One is bound to look for performances on this debut CD that "go to extremes", but Rhodes proves to be a genuinely subtle artist. The stormy first movement of Beethoven's E minor Sonata is, if anything, too understated; the long lyrical second movement, so much harder to bring off, actually works better. Chopin's Fourth Ballade is beautifully shaped and the Bach/Busoni Chaconne is grand and sensitive at once.” The Telegraph, 18th February 2009 “Sensitivity and thunder are his hallmarks” The Times | | | Usually despatched in 3 - 4 working days. |

| | | Horowitz in Hamburg - The Last Concert
On 21 June 1987, before an ecstatic audience in Hamburg’s Musikhalle, 83-year-old Vladimir Horowitz gave the last concert of a career that stretched over nearly seven decades. The recital, taped by North German Radio (NDR), lay in their archives virtually untouched for more than 20 years (one encore was included in Deutsche Grammophon’s anthology The Magic of Horowitz in 2003). It is now being released in its entirety for the first time in any format. The repertoire is familiar, with Mozart and Schumann (Kinderszenen op. 15) to the fore. There is a last heroic assault on Chopin’s Polonaise in A flat op. 53 and the final scintillating encore is Moszkowski’s Etincelles, a Horowitz evergreen. The recording provides a unique souvenir of Horowitz’s final public appearance, where the sense of occasion and immediacy is palpable. “One comes away dazzled by the unique sonority imagination and élan of this extraordinary musician.” Gramophone Magazine, July 2008 “In a programme of Mozart, Liszt, Schumann, Chopin, Schubert and Moszkowski, Vladimir Horowitz demonstrates his guiding principle that the piano should be made to sing. There is a beautifully shaped, lyrical quality to his playing, allied to intuitive musical characterisation and a magical sense of intimacy” The Telegraph, 16th August 2008 | | | Usually despatched in 2 - 3 working days. |
