Concertgebouw Orchestra, Josef Krips "The Dutch players for Krips bring warmth, as well as proving characteristically stylish in phrasing and execution. Both the previously underrated No.28 in C and the first great masterpiece in A major, both aptly paced, are very persuasively done, with an almost ethereal delicacy from the strings in the beautiful Andante of No.29 and the horns thrusting exuberantly in the coda of the finale. The ample Concertgebouw sound, with its resonant bass, emphasizes the breadth of scale of the music-making."
