There has been a recent revival of interest in the music of Rheinberger.

Here the excellent young voices of the EuropaChorAkademie perform some of his lesser known works for choir and piano.

They also include Schumann’s Zigeurnerleben Op.29 No.3 and Brahms’ Sieben Lieder Op.62.

This CD is the result of a charity “lullaby project”. It was initiated by the singer Cornelius Hauptmann, who was concerned that traditional lullabies were dying out. For many children, lullabies are their first intense contact with music and Hauptmann was able to persuade 52 of the best German singers whose first language is German to record one lullaby each, for no fee.

The first recording from the magnificent Chapel Choir of Winchester College since Malcolm Archer (formerly Wells and St Paul’s Cathedrals) took over in 2007.

A beautiful collection of favourite anthems, including My beloved spake, How lovely are thy dwellings, Ave verum Corpus, Greater Love and Evening Hymn.

Several rarities, including Elgar’s great setting of Light out of Darkness and works by Sumsion and MacMillan.
