In 1988 Philip Glass created a score for an extraordinary documentary “The Thin Blue Line”. The film told the story of Randall Adams, wrongfully convicted and serving a life sentence for the murder of a police officer. The film challenged the conviction and produced compelling evidence to identify the real murderer leading to the exoneration of Adams. Director Errol Morris used a repetitive obsessive storytelling style that is matched perfectly by Philip Glass’ hypnotic score leading to a compelling and tense delivery of a chilling true-life story.

Nonesuch released the soundtrack at the time of the film’s release which included dialogue, interviews and details of the making of the film over the music. Here we are able to enjoy the original soundtrack alone for the first time without dialogue. Also included are further tracks that were written and recorded for the film, but never used.

Again this is a fascinating release from the personal archive of Philip Glass that is sure to appeal to the true fan.
