| | | Debussy - Piano 4 Hands
“The Petite suite coruscates, and the Epigraphes exude a warm and mysterious resonance in these perfectly balanced performances by Tong and Hasegawa. The miking is a bit too close, but otherwise this is a triumphantly successful experiment.” BBC Music Magazine, September 2007 ***** “The surprise of the piano duet collection is La mer. One could have hardly predicted that it might come off so effectively and brilliantly on one piano, even with four hands. Altogether an excellent collection played with considerable élan.” Gramophone Magazine, June 2007 | | | Usually despatched in 4 - 5 working days. |

Orchestre Symphonique de Quebec, Yoav Talmi “A fascinating collection of orchestral transcriptions of piano pieces, almost all of which add an extra dimension to the originals yet do not usurp their place in one's affections. …Yoav Talmi and his fine Quebec orchestra present virtually all this music with rich, sensuous feeling...” Gramophone Magazine, June 2007 | | | (also available to download from $10.50) | Usually despatched in 2 - 3 working days. | | | Debussy - Elgar et l'Orgue
Benjamin Waterhouse (organ) The early lives of Debussy and Elgar contain some intersting parallels. Born within five years of each other, they were both essantially self-taught; both rose to prominence in their late twenties thanks to popular compositions that reached a wide audience; and both composers came to be considered, within their lifetimes, as the musical embodiment of the spirit of their respective countries. They also share another point in common: an involvement with the world of organ music. The existence of transcriptions of both composers' works is indicative of an interesting aspect of turn-of-the-century organ performance: surviving programmes generally contain equal numbers of transcriptions and original works. Thus, for a few brief decades--but not for the first time in history--the boundaries of organ music stretched to include other genres.
