| | | Kodály: Orchestral Works
Zoltán Kodály pioneered the reintegration of folk material into 20th century music, giving his compositional work a very different sound to his contemporaries of the time. His music was championed by the great conductors – Toscanini, Mengleberg, Ansermet and Furtwängler. In the 1930s he composed the orchestral showpiece Concerto for orchestra, included in this new recording along with works of similar quality – Symphony and Summer evening, all bearing the trade mark ‘folk tune’ style. |

“His reading of the popular Hary Janos Suite can stand comparison with the finest, both as a performance and technically as a recording...Kertesz's energy takes on compellingly through all the straight homophonic writing, which in a lesser performance can diminish the work's stature.” Penguin Guide, 2011 edition | | | In stock - usually despatched within 1 working day. |
