| | | Franck: Twelve Pieces for Organ (Vol. 2)
Pierre Grandmaison (organ) The Twelve Pieces for Organ of César Franck is a definitive collection of the composer’s works for organ, performed by the Montreal-based organist and composer Pierre Grandmaison, himself a protégé of Maurice Duruflé. Franck’s extraordinary compositions revolutionized the organ repertoire and laid the foundations for future composers, including Widor, Vierne, Tournemire and Dupré. These works were recorded in Montréal’s Notre-Dame Basilica on the magnificent Casavant organ, which has been played by all the great 20th-century French organists. The Notre-Dame instrument was the first 4-manual (81 stops) Casavant organ, and the largest in the country at the time of its installation in 1891. A must-have recording for all organ music enthusiasts! | | | (also available to download from $10.50) | Usually despatched in 2 - 3 working days. (Available now to download.) |

| | | Franck: Great Organ Works, Vol. 2
“Here we have a Franck set that is compelling not only because of Naxos' low cost, but also because of the quality of the performances, informative notes, good recorded sound, and an instrument appropriate for the music itself. The result is both a treat to the ears and a good representation of what it may have been like to hear Franck at his instrument. Naxos gives us thoughtful performances on an exemplary instrument at a very reasonable price.” Andante, June 2001 | | | (also available to download from $6.00) | Usually despatched in 2 - 3 working days.
