| | | London Mozart Players: Complete HMV Stereo Recordings Volume 2
Recorded in December 1954, Symphony No. 36, ‘Linz’ is the earliest extant EMI stereo recording of a complete work. This release follows on from the highly successful first volume (FHR05) of Harry Blech recordings, achieving an Editor’s Choice with Gramophone – “A thoroughly welcome reminder of the brilliance of Harry Blech”. All tracks are issued here for the first on CD, Symphony No.36 and Twelve Minuets are first releases in stereo. Recorded in December 1954, Symphony No.36 is the earliest surviving example of an EMI stereo recording of a complete work. “Kentner’s playing...is very strongly characterized. His tone is lucent, but with slowish tempi, allowing the music to unfold spaciously, the effect is of a dark lucidity...A souvenir of a conductor and orchestra that had something of its own to offer even in a city where the likes of Beecham, Klemperer, Boult and countless more were regularly plying their wares... It doesn’t sound its age.” MusicWeb International, August 2012 | | | Usually despatched in 4 - 5 working days. |

| | | Mozart: Premium Composer Volume 3
These performances received global acclaim and remain among the most perfect interpretations of Mozart’s Piano Concertos committed to disc. “Ivan Moravec is a pianist of uncommon gifts and one of the most sympatheic interpreters of Mozart’s music ever to sit at a keyboard.” NPR “Ivan Moravec is less forceful, dramatic and sparkling than Marriner's contributions might encourage, but in Concertos 24 and 25 the combination of festiveness and melancholy offers rewards.” BBC Music Magazine, January 2012 **** | | | (also available to download from $21.00) | Usually despatched in 2 - 3 working days. | | | Mozart: Piano Concertos Nos. 20 & 23-25
Ivan Moravec, now in his 80s and still active, is one of the most highly regarded members of the pianistic elite. His insightful and purely musical way of playing, free of vulgar tricks, is a landmark of style and good taste; his Mozart playing, never exaggerated, is full of sparkle and wit. The Academy of St. Martin-in-the-Fields conducted by Sir Neville Marriner are completely on the same musical wavelength, a strong unity of concept and vision. 1990s recordings. | | | Usually despatched in 2 - 3 working days. |

| | | Mozart: Piano Concertos Volume 1
With this specially-priced set of Mozart's final four piano concertos (two discs for the price of one), the brilliant Vassily Primakov embarks on a complete cycle of the Mozart piano concertos in collaboration with Denmark's Odense Symphony Orchestra, led by American conductor, Scott Yoo. Primakov's recent recordings on CD and DVD have generated great excitement in the international music press. “The piano playing is of exceptional quality: refined, multi-coloured, elegant of phrase and immaculately balanced, both in itself and in relation to the effortlessly stylish orchestra. The rhythm is both shapely and dynamic, the articulation a model of subtlety.” BBC Music Magazine, November 2010 **** “Yoo starts with a muscular introduction, to which Primakov responds with keenly articulated playing that strikes a perfect balance between passion and lyricism. His limpid phrasing makes you realise how underrated K537 is...Primakov is stylish without being anaemic, and he gets excellent support from Yoo and his undeservedly little-known orchestra.” Classic FM Magazine, November 2010 **** “Big-band, modern-instrument Mozart from Vassily Primakov and Scott Yoo, who have much going for them. Yoo intelligently builds string textures (violins are separated) on the foundation of a firm bass-line...Primakov complements, both a soloist and team-player impressively sensitive to the inner message.” Gramophone Magazine, Awards Issue 2010 | | | Usually despatched in 2 - 3 working days. |
