“You either love or hate Rutter's Christmas music, but for me, Christmas is John Rutter. Complete with sublime melodies, choir-friendly textures and just the right amount of frivolity, this disc is as good as it gets.” BBC Music Magazine, December 2007 “Rutter's writing is notable not only for its tunefulness and winning use of choral textures, but also for his always engaging orchestrations.” Penguin Guide, 2011 edition | | | In stock - usually despatched within 1 working day. |

| | | Rutter: The Tewkesbury Collection
For his final recording with the men and boys of Tewkesbury Abbey Schola Cantorum, Benjamin Nicholas has chosen to celebrate Britain’s best-loved living composer, John Rutter. Rather than simply sticking to familiar classics, this programme explores the full range of the composer’s output from 'The Lord is my shepherd' and 'Lord, thou hast been our refuge' to his most recent piece 'This is the day', written for the marriage of Prince William and Kate Middleton. Rutter’s rare communicative gifts are given a special glow by the refulgent acoustic of Tewkesbury Abbey and the choir’s luminous singing. “The cherubs of Tewkesbury Abbey sing with devotion, faithfully capturing Rutter’s particular brand of luxury comfort” Time Out, August 2012 “Rutter’s music has that magical uniqueness about it in being able to straddle the school of light lyrical touch with that of musical sophistication and integrity. Sure enough, it inspires beautifully scented performances from the boys and men ... augmented variously by gorgeous solo contributions on oboe, cello and trumpet, and from organist Carleton Etherington” The Scotsman, August 2012 “this disc must command our attention. The Tewkesbury Singers produce a well-focused tone throughout … Special attention ought to be made of Carleton Etherington’s sensitive support on the organ. Excellent liner notes and full texts” Choir & Organ, November/December 2012 “Even when Rutter's very obviously in crowd-pleasing mode...the vernal freshness of the Tewkesbury boys' voices strips off the cloying patina more knowing, self-conscious adult voices often add in this music. There's plenty of technical control in the choir's singing, but it's not imposed with undue rigour.” BBC Music Magazine, Christmas 2012 **** “This CD is a valuable addition to the John Rutter discography and shows that the composer is more than simply 'Mr Christmas'...I can imagine the composer being well satisfied with the highly accomplished performances...The trebles have a rich, uninhibited tone and the whole choir are masters of sustained, seamless legato singing. Director Benjamin Nicholas favours flowing tempi and he achieves an excellent balance between all voices.” Gramophone Magazine, February 2013 | | | Usually despatched in 3 - 4 working days. |

Music for the Christmas period from the UK's best-loved a cappella group The King’s Singers: feasts for the eyes and ears on both CD and DVD. This Christmas DVD was recorded in the stylishly distinctive setting of Jerwood Hall in LSO St Luke’s, London. The King’s Singers are world-renowned for their live performances, and this concert captures the charm and skill that you’d expect from a group of this calibre. It is a musical treat as well as a visual one, recorded in both CD quality stereo and in 5.1 surround sound. The DVD also features a 10-minute bonus documentary feature, titled “Life as a King’s Singer”. “the sound and the performances are immaculate...It was recorded without an audience in LSO St Luke’s, so there’s a magical bloom to the sound. And when the programme goes off the beaten track, with exquisite performances of lesser-known carols from France, Germany or Spain, it’s a lovely listen.” The Arts Desk, 14th December 2011 | | | Usually despatched in 3 - 4 working days. |

| | | Joy to the World
One of two releases in time for the Christmas period from the UKs' best-loved a cappella group The King’s Singers: 'Joy to the World' [CD] was recorded last year at one of their ever-popular Christmas shows in London’s Cadogan Hall. The King’s Singers bring together a programme of popular hymns and carols alongside modern works and arrangements – all performed with their characteristic warmth and precision. “The familiar polish and sweet vocal blend of the King’s Singers are applied to a nicely varied programme. There are new slants on traditional favourites such as The 12 Days of Christmas, God Rest You Merry, Gentlemen and Jingle Bells, together with rarities including a jolly Sérénade d’hiver by Saint-Saëns.” The Telegraph, 9th December 2011 “an eclectic collection, with accomplished versions of pieces by Bach, Tchaikovsky and Saint-Saens interspersed with folksier material such as "Noël Nouvelet", featuring an exquisite interplay of quiet clarity between the countertenors and lower registers.” The Independent, 23rd December 2011 **** | | | Usually despatched in 3 - 4 working days. |

| | | What Sweeter Music: Carols and Songs for Christmas
Tenebrae return to disc on Signum with a sumptuous collection of songs and carols for Christmas time. Anyone who has heard this finely tuned, professional choir in action before will be understandably excited to hear them bringing these festive works to life. “Superbly sung and plenty of fun” Gramophone Magazine Best Christmas Discs Roundup 2009 “Rutter's title-track perhaps shows off the choir's tonal blend to best effect, while Karl Jenkins' arrangement of "Gaudete" brings a brief burst of ebullience amid the piety. Two tracks which set the album apart: the superbly-measured arrangement of the Appalachian folk tune "I Wonder As I Wander", and Rathbone's splendid arrangement of "Silent Night".” The Independent, 11th December 2009 *** “A jazzy Jingle Bells launches this varied and seductively sung programme” Geoffrey Norris, The Telegraph Best Christmas Discs 2009 | | | Usually despatched in 3 - 4 working days. |

| | | Twelve Days - A Celebration of Christmas
plus: Three Kings The Clouded Heaven Jesus Christ, the Apple Tree I Sing of a Maiden Infant Holy Balulalow Coventry Carol Lully, Lulla Gabriel’s Message Jingle Bells Christmas Proclamation Silent Night O Magnum Mysterium The Kings Two Spanish Carols
The first CD release by London’s renowned chamber choir Pegasus features a wealth of both popular and unfamiliar repertoire, ranging from Jingle Bells to Judith Bingham. Most of the carols are by English composers, many still living, a testament to a tradition that is alive and thriving in this country. Christmas would not be complete without John Rutter, represented here by a setting of a 15th century text, There is a Flow’r. There are two world premiere recordings - Silent Night and Infant Holy (sung in the original Polish) - arranged by friends of the choir, and the collection is rounded off with The Twelve Days of Christmas in a witty arrangement by Andrew Carter. | | | Usually despatched in 2 - 3 working days. |
