| | | Beethoven - Three Duos for Violin and Cello
Ruggiero Ricci (violin), Mihaly Virizlay (cello), Bonnie Hampton (cello) & Nathan Schwartz (piano) Beethoven had no worries about music written for one instrument being ‘arranged’ for another. The
duos on this record were originally for clarinet and bassoon. The transcribed performances are
beautiful, and unmistakably Beethoven. The Op. 17 sonata was written in 1800 for piano and horn with an optional cello.
The E flat variations are perhaps the best of three sets that Beethoven wrote for this combination. "Partnership of real equality…Ricci and Virizlay play like very warm-hearted angels…the blend is impressive." Washington Sunday Star |

| | | Beethoven - Cello Sonatas & Variations
Anne Gastinel (cello) & François-Frédéric Guy (piano) “The phrases are finely drawn, with tone that is never inappropriately heavy or too powerfully sustained. The rhythms are poised, the articulation clear and crisp, and in the variation sets as well as in the early sonata there’s an element of wit and playfulness that’s an essential part of the young Beethoven.” (The Gramophone) | | | Usually despatched in 2 - 3 working days. |
