This Bruckner Symphony (his second) is very rarely heard and was "annulled" rather than destroyed by the composer. He bequeathed it to the Linz Regional Museum and it was first performed posthumously in 1924 on the 100th annniversary of Bruckner's birth. The other four orchestral movements on this SACD are world premiere recordings. “Throughout, the playing of the Beethoven Orchestra confirms its recent inclusion in the first league of German ensembles… This remains an account that Brucknerians ought to acquire and they will be further rewarded by Blunier’s skilful handling of the four orchestral pieces” International Record Review, July/August 2011 “how welcome it is to see more peripheral pieces given such authoritative performances in the new medium [SACD] as Bruckner’s early ‘Nullte’ Symphony, a piece which displays all the fingerprints of the composer’s most mature work.” london24.com, 17th June 2011 | | | Usually despatched in 2 - 3 working days. |
