Lorenzo Cavasanti, Manuel Staropoli (recorders), Linda Murgia (cello), Claudia Ferrero (harpsichord) & Ugo Nastrucci (theorbo & baroque guitar) Accademia Del Ricercare, Pietro Busca (artistic director) Vivaldi was one of the most prolific of all the great composers, and his concertos – around 600 in number are justly famous. His sacred music and some of the operas have also become popular. His musical imagination and the breadth of his invention are simply amazing. However, this has all tended to overshadow his earlier works especially the trio sonatas included on this CD. Dating from around the period 1710-20 these works have all the hallmarks that make his musical voice so individual. The freshness and variety of these sonatas never fails to surprise and captivate the listener. These works were originally all composed for the violin, but in keeping with the practise of the period, the performers on this CD have substituted the recorder (flauto dolce), an instrument that the composer was very fond of. Many collections of such trio sonatas were published as for either violin or recorder in the early 18th century. | | | Usually despatched in 4 - 5 working days. |

“Ranks honourably among the best available … Watkin has the advantage of outstanding continuo support and a recording of surpassing beauty and unexaggerated perspectives. If faced with a choice I’d opt for David Watkin’s consistently articulate playing, the decisive criterion being Hyperion’s rapturously seductive sound” BBC Music Magazine Top 1000 CDs Guide | | | Usually despatched in 2 - 3 working days. |

| | | Vivaldi: Cello Sonatas
Roel Dieltens (cello) Ensemble Explorations Vivaldi was attracted to the cello for its expressive capabilities, which are showcased perfectly on Ensemble Explorations's debut disc on the Etcetera label. “If you've tended to consider Vivaldi's cello sonatas less interesting than most of his music, then these performances may persuade you to think again...By refusing to accept routine attitudes to articulation and ornamentation, Dieltens compels us to listen anew to typical baroque turns of phrase...Everywhere, the level of artistry is extremely high.” Gramophone Magazine, April 2010 | | | Usually despatched in 2 - 3 working days. |
