| | | Bruckner: Complete Symphonies Volume 2
The second volume of cpo’s Bruckner cycle with Mario Venzago features the so-called ‘Symphony No. 0’ and Symphony No. 1. Venzago has assigned each pair of symphonies a specific orchestra of very different size, culture, and tradition. In Finland’s Tapiola Sinfonietta Venzago has found a relatively small but first-class orchestra that is especially receptive to his efforts towards refinement and classical limpidity. “One of Venzago's virtues as a Bruckner interpreter is in the way he takes on aspects of period performance practice, moderating the use of vibrato rather than taking it a doctrinaire line against it, which means that both its employment and its absence have expressive effect....The luminous and revealing Venzago set might be described as Bruckner for non-Brucknerians” Gramophone Magazine, May 2012 “Some ideas from the period instrument movement are brought into play, but these only serve to highlight the conventionality of the "modern" performance conventions with which they rub shoulders. It's a fascinating combination though, and the results are deeply satisfying, even in these earlier works.” MusicWeb International, June 2012 | | | (also available to download from $21.75) | Usually despatched in 2 - 3 working days. | | | Bruckner: 10 Symphonies
Daniel Barenboim’s Bruckner odyssey, recorded with the Chicago Symphony between 1973 to 1981, proved his credentials as a true Brucknerian. ”Barenboim’s Brucknerian instincts, and his orchestra’s, are formidable“ – Gramophone. The set also includes the Te Deum, with powerful soloists, the rarely-heard Helgoland for men’s chorus and orchestra, and Psalm 150 for soprano chorus and orchestra. Soloists include Yvonne Minton, Jessye Norman, Samuel Ramey, David Rendall, and Ruth Welting. | | | (Sorry, download not available in your country) | In stock - usually despatched within 1 working day. |

| | | Live-Recording: Philharmonie im Gasteig, January-March 1999, Munich
Booklet: English, German In a spectacular concert cycle from January to March 1999, the Symphonieorchester des Bayerischen Rundfunks under the direction of Lorin Maazel played the complete symphonies of Bruckner in Munich’s Philharmonie in the Gasteig. Maazel had at his disposal an ensemble with a long, impressive Bruckner tradition dating back to Eugen Jochum. The founding father and first Chief Conductor of the orchestra ranks as one of the most significant Bruckner conductors in the interpretive history of these works. The chronological compactness of the recording process, which guaranteed a unified artistic signature is the outstanding feature of this compete recording vis-à-vis many of the versions from the competition. An occupation with Bruckner’s complete works is an overwhelming experience for today’s listeners. With an enthralling effect the series develops from the stylistic variety of the early symphonies all the way to the ultimate clarity of the musical language in the unfinished Ninth Symphony. Complete Bruckner recording made by an orchestra with an outstanding Bruckner tradition. The chronological compactness of two months guarantees a unified artistic signature. The only complete Bruckner recording with Lorin Maazel. CD Review
