Bach, C P E: | Sonata for Flute and Harpsichord in D major, H.505 (Wq 83?) | Bach, J C: | Sonata for harpsichord, with the accompaniment of a violin or traverso and cello, in G Major | Bach, J C F: | Sonata in F Major for concertant harpsichord and flute (or violin) [and cello] Wf.VIII.1 | Bach, J S: | Flute Sonata No. 1 in B minor, BWV1030 Trio Sonata No. 3 in D minor, BWV527 | Mozart: | Flute Sonata No. 4 in F major, K13 |
For this project, flautist Claire Guimond has chosen to work with two extraordinarily talented musicians: British harpsichordist Gary Cooper and Dutch cellist Jaap ter Linden. They present a program of trio sonatas that invites the listener to follow the path of that musical genre beginning with the music of J.S. Bach through to Mozart and including sonatas by CPE, JCF and JC Bach. “In sum, these artists achieve a unity that transcends the requirements of the notation – a veritable musical trinity.” The Whole Note (Canada), July 2005 | | | Usually despatched in 2 - 3 working days. |

| | | Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart: The Early Sonatas
Hansgeorg Schmeiser (flute), Ingomar Rainer (harpsichord) This set of six sonatas was written in 1764. From April of that year until August 1765 the eight-year-old Mozart was in London with his family. He appeared with great success at the court of George III; he improvised at the harpsichord for the Royal Society, and he met with J C Bach who would prove to be a life-long influence and friend. Like the sonatas written in Paris the previous year (KV.6-9) these pieces are designated for keyboard and violin with optional cello. However, it is entirely in keeping with the habits of the period to perform them on the flute … “Playing on a modern flute and a fine two-manual Flemish harpsichord, Schmeiser and Rainer give pleasing, gracefully shaped performances.” Gramophone Magazine, June 2006 | | | Usually despatched in 4 - 5 working days. |
