Brandenburg Choir & Brandenburg Orchestra, Paul Dyer The Australian Brandeburg Orchestra get together each year to celebrate Christmas and Artistic Director Paul Dyer has committed some of the music created to disc. It contains the usual eclectic mix of repertoire, performed by these first class musicians in their unique way. Their previous release was universally critically acclaimed and we expect this one to generate similar reviews. “this seasonal offering reveals the quirky programming policy of artistic director Paul Dyer...I’m not sure anyone else has ever dared programme Angelus ad virginem and Billy Joel together, but the man who hymned his Uptown Girl shares stage space with Herbert Howells and Henry Purcell as well, and doesn’t seem unduly to suffer.” MusicWeb International, November 2012 | | | In stock - usually despatched within 1 working day. |

Music for the Christmas period from the UK's best-loved a cappella group The King’s Singers: feasts for the eyes and ears on both CD and DVD. This Christmas DVD was recorded in the stylishly distinctive setting of Jerwood Hall in LSO St Luke’s, London. The King’s Singers are world-renowned for their live performances, and this concert captures the charm and skill that you’d expect from a group of this calibre. It is a musical treat as well as a visual one, recorded in both CD quality stereo and in 5.1 surround sound. The DVD also features a 10-minute bonus documentary feature, titled “Life as a King’s Singer”. “the sound and the performances are immaculate...It was recorded without an audience in LSO St Luke’s, so there’s a magical bloom to the sound. And when the programme goes off the beaten track, with exquisite performances of lesser-known carols from France, Germany or Spain, it’s a lovely listen.” The Arts Desk, 14th December 2011 | | | Usually despatched in 3 - 4 working days. |

| | | Joy to the World
One of two releases in time for the Christmas period from the UKs' best-loved a cappella group The King’s Singers: 'Joy to the World' [CD] was recorded last year at one of their ever-popular Christmas shows in London’s Cadogan Hall. The King’s Singers bring together a programme of popular hymns and carols alongside modern works and arrangements – all performed with their characteristic warmth and precision. “an eclectic collection, with accomplished versions of pieces by Bach, Tchaikovsky and Saint-Saens interspersed with folksier material such as "Noël Nouvelet", featuring an exquisite interplay of quiet clarity between the countertenors and lower registers.” The Independent, 23rd December 2011 **** “The familiar polish and sweet vocal blend of the King’s Singers are applied to a nicely varied programme. There are new slants on traditional favourites such as The 12 Days of Christmas, God Rest You Merry, Gentlemen and Jingle Bells, together with rarities including a jolly Sérénade d’hiver by Saint-Saëns.” The Telegraph, 9th December 2011 | | | Usually despatched in 3 - 4 working days. |

In the run-up to Advent and Christmas, the Choir of St John’s College, Cambridge under Andrew Nethsingha presents a joyous celebration of music for the festive season. The disc includes original works by John Rutter, Sir Richard Rodney Bennett, Elizabeth Poston, and Kenneth Leighton. These are complemented by arrangements of popular songs, and a selection of congregational hymns, all displaying strong ties to the Advent and Christmas seasons. This disc was recorded in the College Chapel in full surround-sound, which means that it not only sounds spectacular, but recreates to a spectacular degree the experience of listening to the Choir perform in the Chapel. The Choir of St John’s College, established in the 1670s, is today one of the finest college choirs in the world, known and loved by millions for its recordings, broadcasts, and concert tours. “This is a warming disc, eloquently sung by the choir of St John’s. There are some core Christmas hymns, but the bulk of the 24-track programme comprises some of the modern classics of the repertoire such as Elizabeth Poston’s Jesus Christ the Apple Tree and Joubert’s There is No Rose.” The Telegraph, 9th December 2011 “The collective vocal heft of the ensemble's young choral scholars remains a potent weapon under Andrew Nethsinga's direction. He's a man of musical refinement, however, one ready and able to rein in eager tenors and basses where the melodic interest lies in the gift of his choir's boy trebles...This release stands out thanks to the commitment to quality and high artistic values shown here by St John's College Choir and Chandos.” Classic FM Magazine, Februrary 2012 ***** | | | (also available to download from $10.75) | Usually despatched in 2 - 3 working days.
