This album complements the three previous Tchaikovsky releases in the series (Swan Lake, Sleeping Beauty and The Nutcracker) and features a condensed version of the dramatic ballet Onegin, created by John Cranko in Stuttgart and now performed by major companies all over the world. It uses piano music by Tchaikovsky arranged and orchestrated by Kurt-Heinz Stolze. The rest of the programmes consists of three major ballets choreographed by George Balanchine created on extracts from Tchaikovsky’s Suite for Orchestra No.3 in G (Theme and Variations) and his Symphony No.3 in D ‘Polish’ (Jewels: Diamonds) plus the complete version of his Piano Concerto No.2 in G (Ballet Imperial). | | | In stock - usually despatched within 1 working day. |

“Of all Tchaikovsky's symphonies, the Second needs the most kick and sheer charm - not qualities uppermost in Fedoseyev's superbly controlled interpretation. The soloists in a strong selection from Onegin, too, are useful but not unique.” BBC Music Magazine, January 2008 *** “The definitive video production.” Die Presse | | | Usually despatched in 2 - 3 working days. |

(recorded live 1969 - 1998) “We hear him first, fresh-voiced and magnificent in even-toned sonority as Fiesco in his prologue to Simon Boccanegra. Then comes the complete triumph in one of his great roles, the King in Don Carlos: aristocratic in vocal method as in emotional restraint. His was the most beautiful of bass voices heard (in my experience) since the Second World War. ...the magnificence is unmistakable, and is more persuasively exhibited here, I would say, than any of his other collections on disc.” Gramophone Magazine, May 2006 | | | Usually despatched in 3 - 4 working days. |

Hailed by the press as “the definitive video production” of Tchaikovsky’s music, this exceptional concert series, recorded live from the Alte Oper Frankfurt, features the leading Russian conductor Vladimir Fedoseyev and the Moscow Radio Symphony Orchestra. Fedoseyev’s perceptive reading of the works of his fellow countryman, the masterly playing of the orchestra and guest soloists combine to produce performances which are revelatory in their execution and understanding of Tchaikovsky’s music and the Russian heritage. They are joined by international guest soloists who include the brilliant Japanese violinist Kyoko Takezawa, Brazilian cellist and Tchaikovsky Competition Gold Medallist Antonio Meneses, acclaimed Russian pianist Mikhail Pletnev, soprano Lydia Shernikh and baritone Alexander Nenaovsky.
