| | | Scarlatti - Complete Keyboard Sonatas Volume 14
The son of Alessandro Scarlatti, who created a new school of opera in Naples, Domenico Scarlatti is particularly distinguished for his remarkable keyboard sonatas, of which some 555 are known. This significant addition to early 18th century keyboard repertoire was written for performance on the various keyboard instruments of the Spanish court, where he was employed for many years, and in all its variety has long provided a valuable repertoire for pianists. Chinese pianist Duanduan Hao won First Prize in the 2009 Shanghai International Piano Competition. | | | (also available to download from $5.75) | Usually despatched in 2 - 3 working days. | | | Guitar Recital: Goran KrivokapicFirst Prize: 2004 Guitar Foundation of America Competition
Goran Krivokapic (guitar) “Rarely have I heard such remarkable fluency and lightness. Rarely have I heard a guitar “sing” with such sonority…. fireworks of technical challenges [are] executed by Goran Krivokapic with almost casual ease and elegance…. I am already looking forward to hearing more [of] Goran Krivokapic’s playing.”

| | | Domenico Scarlatti - Sonatas Volume 1
“The first track (Kk535) is typical of the quickmoving sonatas that abound in this programme – an astonishing display of dexterity in which the harpsichord he uses (a 1999 copy of an anonymous Thuringian instrument of 1720) and the acoustic help in preserving total clarity. Even at maximum velocity (did Scarlatti and his pupil reach such speeds?) he manages to shape his phrases with micro-second dwellings. It isn't only the speedy sonatas that are impressive; Kk208 exemplifies his skilful shifts to either side of the pulse in giving the lines a natural 'vocal' quality. It also illuminates Kk185, 310, 199 and 162, in the last of which it's more evident in the playful quicker 'interludes'. The irresistible disc is splendidly annotated by Hantaï and beautifully packaged.” Gramophone Classical Music Guide, 2010 “overwhelming, brilliant and passionate” International Record Review | | | Usually despatched in 3 - 4 working days. |
