Alexei Lubimov (tangent piano)

Russian pianist Alexei Lubimov responds to the inventiveness of CPE Bach's music by making full creative use of the sonorities of the tangent piano. Briefly popular in the early 18th century, the tangent piano (whose strings are struck from beneath by wood or metal tangents and allowed to vibrate) offered greater expressiveness and intensity than the harpsichord.

Robert Getchell (Orphée), Caroline Weynants (Eurydice), Caroline Dangin-Bardot (Oenone), Violaine Le Chenadec (Daphné), Ensemble Correspondances, Sébastien Daucé

Charpentier's last short opera constitutes in its breadth and dramatic density a gem of 17th-century French vocal art. It is a poetic experience amid the depths of night, which inspired Sébastien Daucé and his Ensemble Correspondances in this new edition, recorded in Grenoble in January last year.
