Scottish pianist Steven Osborne was born in 1971 and studied at St Mary’s Music School in Edinburgh and the Royal Northern College of Music; early successes included the 1991 Clara Haskil Competition, and selection for the inaugural line-up of BBC New Generation Artists in 1999.

Osborne signed to Hyperion early in his career, and has made almost three dozen recordings on the label, including Gramophone Award-winning account of Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition and Britten’s Piano Concerto, the complete solo piano music of Ravel, Messiaen’s Vingt Regards, and Tippett’s entire output for solo piano and piano and orchestra (‘performances that impressively set new standards in these often challenging works.’ – BBC Music Magazine).
