The Czech horn-player Radek Baborák was born in Pardubice in 1976 and had his first major competition success aged just twelve; at 18 he became principal horn of the Czech Philharmonic, and subsequently held the same position with the Münchner Philharmoniker Bamberger Symphoniker and from (2002 until 2011) the Berliner Philharmoniker.

Baborák’s discography includes the Britten Serenade with Ian Bostridge, Simon Rattle and the Berliner Philharmoniker (‘Everything seems fresh-minted and immediate, nowhere more so than in Radek Baborák's bold yet sensitive horn playing’ – Gramophone Guide), the Mozart Horn Concertos, Quintet, Sinfonia Concertante and numerous fragments with his Baborák Ensemble (founded in 2001), concertos by the Czech composers Giovanni Punto, František Xaver Pokorný and Antonio Rosetti on Supraphon, and the Hindemith Horn Sonatas and Concerto.
