Impulse! Records
Founded in 1960 by record producer Creed Taylor, Impulse! Records is perhaps best known as the label John Coltrane made his home on - he was one of the label's earliest signings, and Impulse! is sometimes referred to as "the house that Trane built". The label was created with an ethos that emphasised high-quality recordings and attractive sleeve art; most Impulse! releases were released in a gatefold sleeve and often included photographs, liner notes, and booklets.
