Hallé

Hallé

The orchestra’s own label at mid-price.

One of Britain’s most celebrated orchestras, the Hallé consistently meets with great critical acclaim for its performances, and this warm reception has been extended to its new label on Sanctuary Classics. The Elgar ‘Enigma’ Variations disc (HLL 7501) made National News in The Guardian: “The almost forgotten original finale of one of Elgar’s best-known works has finally been recorded”, while the English Rhapsody disc (HLL 7503) made the Top 20 in the Classical Charts.

Regular conductor Mark Elder features on most of the discs. Guest conductors include Carl Davis (HLL 7504) and Stanislaw Skrowaczewski, who met Shostakovich as a student and conducts his 1st and 6th Symphonies on HLL 7506. Other artists include tenor James Gilchrist and flautist Andrew Nicholson.
