New Publications  New Sheet Music Publications - October 2017

Welcome to our hand-picked highlights from amongst new and recent sheet music publications, which this month include piano music by Liszt, several collections of music for clarinet, operatic arias for soprano by Rameau, and songs by the Beatles arranged for ukulele.

Liszt: 3 Études de concert

Un lamento; La leggierezza; Un sospiro

This new edition is the first to take into consideration the composer's autograph, which had been missing for decades after having been bought by the French pianist François Lang in the mid-1930s. Also used as the engraver's copy, the autograph confirms an earlier suspicion, which is that the widely-used subtitles for each piece did not originate from the composer.

Steve Reich: Quartet for 2 pianos and 2 vibraphones

Study Score

The use of two pianos and two percussion has appeared in many of Steve Reich's works. First performed in London in 2014, Quartet is one of his more complex pieces: it frequently changes key and often breaks off continuity to pause or take up new material. Though the parts are not unduly difficult, it calls for a high level of ensemble virtuosity.
