New Publications  New Sheet Music Publications - November 2017

Welcome to our hand-picked highlights from amongst new and recent sheet music publications, which this month include critical editions of works by Beethoven, Donizetti, and Debussy, instruction books for saxophone and blues piano, and a festive addition to Oxford University Press's Voiceworks series.

Beethoven: Piano Sonata in E-flat major op. 81a "Les Adieux"

Beethoven titled this sonata's three movements “Das Lebewohl” (The Farewell), “Die Abwesenheit” (The Absence), and “Das Wiedersehn” (The Return) in reference to the hasty departure of his patron Archduke Rudolph of Austria, who had fled Vienna to escape Napoleon’s approaching troops. His publisher printed French translations of these headings, hence its nickname of “Les Adieux”. This Bärenreiter Urtext publication is edited by Beethoven scholar, Jonathan Del Mar.
