Dunedin Consort, His Majestys Sagbutts & Cornetts, John Butt

Monteverdi's masterpiece is expertly realised by John Butt and Dunedin Consort, together with the virtuoso players of His Majestys Sagbutts and Cornetts. In direct contrast to more lavish stagings, Butt's preference for single-part performance brings a welcome sense of intimacy to Monteverdi's most famous work.

Akademie für Alte Musik Berlin, René Jacobs & Georg Kallweit

This box offers a demonstration of the diversity of Telemann’s output: operatic with an approach to the famous myth of Orpheus; sacred with Brockes’s account of the Passion of Christ, and finally orchestral with his concertante works with recorder and a selection of overtures that remind us of the influence of Italian and French music on his idiom.
