Daniel Barenboim's remarkable career as a pianist is celebrated with a new box from DG, while Yekwon Sunwoo, Gold Medal winner of this year's Van Cliburn competition leads the way for the latest generation of pianists. Releases dedicated to two twentieth-century composers, Elliott Carter and Peter Maxwell Davies also feature this week.

An impressive cast of artists join together in this recording dedicated to the late works by iconic American composer Elliott Carter (1908–2012). The album includes five premiere recordings, including Carter’s final work Epigrams for piano trio, featuring Pierre-Laurent Aimard, Isabelle Faust and Jean-Guihen Queyras.

Handel’s sumptuous work from 1734 celebrates the marriage of Princess Anne and Prince William of Orange, and is packed with breathtaking arias, duets and choruses.

Telemann’s twelve flute fantasias remain a challenge for today’s players, as they were in the eighteenth century. Ashley Solomon presents an opportunity to hear two unique baroque flutes, both made in 1760, alongside a modern copy. Combining all three on this recording opens a new sound world and breathes fresh life into these works.
