Montserrat CaballéA tribute to some of the musicians who died in 2018, including conductors Claudio Scimone, Gennady Rozhdestvensky, and Jesús López Cobos; composers Oliver Knussen and Jóhann Jóhannsson; and singers Inge Borkh, Huguette Tourangeau, and Montserrat Caballé.

The music is 'Vissi d'arte' from Puccini's Tosca, sung by Caballé. Her legendary capacity for floated pianissimo high notes and her extraordinary breath control are both on display in this recording from 1970, for which she is joined by the London Symphony Orchestra under conductor Sir Charles Mackerras.

James is a conductor, répétiteur, arranger, and tuba player. His musical interests include opera, film music, late-Romantic orchestral works (especially Mahler and Richard Strauss), and twentieth-century American composers such as Copland, John Adams, and John Williams. He read Music at Christ Church, Oxford, writing his postgraduate dissertation on the music of Star Wars.
