The Presto Chart - 2023
For the third time in four years, it was Víkingur Ólafsson who topped the Presto Chart in 2023: despite only being released in mid-October, his sublime recording of Bach's Goldberg Variations on Deutsche Grammophon is already our second-best-selling title of the past decade (pipped to the post by the Icelandic pianist's own Mozart & Contemporaries album from 2021). The recording also appears to have prompted a resurgence of interest in Ólafsson's first Bach album from 2018, which sits at No. 23 - the only entry in our Top 50 not to have been released in 2023.
