Neeme Järvi and the Estonian National Symphony Orchestra's recording of Lalo's Symphony in G minor and suites from the ballet Namouna (released on Chandos in the middle of the month) proved our most popular title for January, after David praised both repertoire and performances as 'exciting, vivid and refreshing'.
Several of our Top 10 Recordings of 2023 continued to attract attention, with Víkingur Ólafsson's widely acclaimed account of Bach's Goldberg Variations and Dvořák's complete piano trios from Veronika Jarůšková, Peter Jarůšek & Boris Giltburg retaining their footholds in the Top 5 last month - and on the archive front, Deutsche Grammophon's vinyl reissues of vintage recordings by Herbert von Karajan and Claudio Abbado also made their mark.
