Nationality: French

French baritone Ludovic Tézier was born in Marseille in 1968 and trained in Paris, sharing second prize at Plaicdo Domingo’s Operalia Competition with Joyce DiDonato in 1998; he began his career in Lucerne and Lyon, focusing on Mozart and bel canto, but in recent years has been increasingly in demand for Verdi roles including Germont, Don Carlo in La forza del destino/, Ford Falstaff, Luna []iIl trovatore and the title-role in Macbeth.

His discography includes Amonasro on Antonio Pappano’s multi-award-winning Aida for Warner Classics in 2015, Marcello in Franco Zeffirelli’s iconic La bohème from the Metropolitan Opera, Antonio in Donizetti’s Linda di Chamounix on Opera Rara, Enrico in Lucia di Lammermoor (opposite Diana Damrau’s Lucia), and Scarpia from the Staatskapelle Dresden under Christian Thielemann on Blu-ray and DVD.
