Georg Philipp Telemann

Georg Philipp Telemann (1681-1767)

Composer

In his day, he was more successful and popular than his fellow German, contemporary and friend, J.S. Bach.

He had studied law, but during his long musical career, with appointments at various churches and courts, he wrote a prodigious amount of music – forty-four settings of the Passion alone.
