Russian-born American pianist Vladimir Horowitz (1903-1989) was a true legend of classical music. His technique, use of tone colour and the excitement of his playing were considered unique, and he is widely revered as one of the greatest pianists of all time. Presented on this release is a complete original LP (RCA Victor LSC-2366) containing recordings made by Horowitz in 1959 of piano sonatas by Ludwig van Beethoven. These were Horowitz’s first stereo recordings ever. To the highly acclaimed performances present on the original album (the Appassionata and the Sonata Op.10, No.3), Minuet Records have added Beethoven’s “Waldstein” sonata, recorded by Horowitz in 1956.
