'Shadows' is a rare and previously unreleased studio album from legendary jazz singer, Mark Murphy.
Recorded at Studio RTV Maribor (Slovenia) during June of 1996 with an Austrian quartet featuring saxophonist Karlheinz Miklin and the late, great Fritz Paur on piano, the album features six original songs and two well know standards; "If I Should Lose You" and "Lilac Wine". Of the original songs, one is by Murphy himself, "Humanity Ltd", and five were co-written with individual members of the quartet.

Living and teaching in Europe at the time of this recoding, Mark Murphy had just turned 64 a few months earlier. The artistry and vocal prowess he demonstrates on this album belie his age and confirm why he is held in such high regard by musicians and fans alike.

"To say Mark Murphy is a jazz singer is an understatement. He's beyond that title. He's a poet, an actor and above all a soulful human being filled with tremendous musical talent."- Sheila Jordan

Personnel: Mark Murphy (vocal), Karlheinz Miklin (saxophones, flute), Fritz Pauer (piano), Ewald Oberleitner (double bass), Dusan Novakov (drums)
